Description:
Oval flower plate,"kakiotoshi" plate, 12.5 inches in width,molded earthenware, with engobe and celdan glazes. This is done by pouring engobe over a leather-hard contrasting body and allowing to dry. The pattern is then marked out using a tool with a rounded point, then scraped away with a sharp metal tool to reveal the surface beneath.
